Czech Radio plays for Ukraine
An extraordinary benefit concert of the Czech Radio in aid of Ukraine will feature the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and its designated chief conductor Petr Popelka. He has put together a programme combining music by Ukrainian and Czech composers for the occasion.

The opening of the evening will feature the national anthems of both our countries performed by the Czech Radio Children's Choir as an expression of support and sympathy for all Ukrainians at a time when they are facing reprehensible aggression. The programme will then open with Elegy by Ukraine's most important living composer, Valentin Sylvestrov, to continue with Concerto for horn and orchestra by the late romantic Ukrainian composer Reinhold Glière. The solo part will be performed by the well-known Radek Baborák, one of the world's finest horn players, who, among other things, has been a solo horn player with the Berlin Philharmonic, has appeared as soloist with many of the world's finest orchestras, and is currently conductor and artistic director of a number of ensembles and orchestras. The evening will culminate with an iconic work of the symphonic repertoire, Symphony No. 9 "From the New World", with which Antonín Dvořák made Czech music world famous.
All proceeds from admission will be donated to aid to Ukraine.
