Eva Nedomová

I come from a small village in the Haná region. I come from a musical family and have been playing the violin since I was about seven years old. I studied at the Kroměříž Conservatory and, after graduating, spent a few months with the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra.

Unfortunately, I was not accepted for full-time study at the Academy and was only offered the opportunity to study part-time. However, due to my demanding work schedule, I was unable to complete my studies. In 1981, I hitchhiked from Hradec Králové to Prague for an audition with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. I won the audition and have been there ever since.

Moving to Prague also opened up opportunities for me in chamber music. I have performed with several chamber orchestras, including the Talich Chamber Orchestra, the Suk Chamber Orchestra and others.

What instrument do I play?

In 1982, I fell in love with an old instrument made by J. B. Dvořák in 1858. I was born exactly one hundred years later, in 1958. I still play this instrument today.

What was my childhood dream?

Sport has always attracted me the most, and I had to choose between sport and music. To this day, sport remains just as important to me as music.

What do I enjoy?

Cycling and skiing. Just as I cannot imagine life without music, I cannot imagine it without skis and a bicycle either.
