Alexandr Kopka

I play in the first violin section of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. I have a happy family — Míša and Bíša (a Bichon Frisé). Bíša is white, mischievous and disobedient, but also a loving four-legged companion. I decided to move to Prague permanently for the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, Míša and Bíša. Otherwise, I am a Kladno boy at heart.

What instrument do I play?

I am still figuring that out. I am spending more and more time with my violin than with my hockey stick, so once I have completely forgotten how to skate, I will reveal the make of my instrument.

What was my childhood dream?

Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to be Jágr. When I was asked at school what I wanted to be, my answer was always: “Jágr.” Nothing has changed — I still want to be Jágr. I am a Kladno boy, so when people ask me what I am going to name my child, my answer is: “Jágr.” And if they then ask, “What if it’s a girl?”, I say: “Well, Jarda.”

What do I enjoy?

Sport in general and travelling a lot. One day, a friend and fellow violinist “just for fun” ran a marathon, so I said: “If you can do it, so can I!” And a year later, I did. I love challenges — and trying new things. I have completed a marathon; now I cheer on the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.
